BINDERGARTEN CELEBRATES zzzGetting ready for the 100th day of kindergarten can be a real challenge - one that I have helped both my sons prepare for. So when it was time to help Miss Bindergarten and her students, I drew on firsthand experience. Miss Bindergarten is getting ready for another milestone. Tomorrow she and her class will have been together for 100 days. To celebrate, each student must bring "100 of some wonderful, one-hundred-full thing" Paper-chain links, stickers, a string of beads - that night the students are busy thinking, counting, and assembling their projects. |

| zzz Meanwhile, Miss Bindergarten is busy, too, buying ingredients for 100-day punch (made with 100 cherries), folding paper hats (that mark off 100 days on their brim), piling up blocks to make the number 100 - among other festive, math-oriented activities she undertakes to make the day special. |

warm, humorous book for that special morning of mixed emotions--the
first day of kindergarten or preschool. After observing my younger son's
kindergarten class after dropping him off everyday, I illustrated the
book with watercolor and pen and ink paintings bursting with detail.

4th outing for Miss Bindergarten takes her on a field trip to five of
any kindergartnerŐs favorite destinations. After a first stop at the
bakery they visit the fire station, the post office, the library and
finally, the park. Along the way, her class meets the people in their
community who make the bread, fight the fires, deliver the mail, and
check out the books. They have a chance to help and learn new skills
at each location. |
